We work in two primary areas:

  • Developing positioning papers and understanding trends: Accenture creates original, cutting-edge points of view to use with clients, the media and in conferences. Most of our projects are published and quoted in the media and you are expected to have a voice and an opinion on the industry both inside and beyond Accenture. Research into industry trends informs publications and the direction of our business.

  • Client-focused research: We work alongside our colleagues from the practice to provide research on clients’ business challenges and opportunities, support proposals, engagements and day to day discussions with clients on their business and industry.

About the role

This role is in our Data Science Global Team and it will be fully dedicated to support research for our Healthcare industry team. Our Health practice is heavily data-driven when providing forward-thinking recommendations to our Payer and Provider clients. This Specialist will work directly with our Data Science team to create new models, analytics, interactive dashboards, and viewpoints to advance the understanding of how to optimize wellness and health in targeted populations.

The candidate for this new role should exemplify a deep understanding of, and interest in, the application of Health data by Health Payers and Providers to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient healthcare to its consumers and patients. Our Health clients desire new tools, methods, and models to advance their missions to improve the lives of their members and communities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Help in the design and execution of groundbreaking and differentiated research through the adoption and implementation of appropriate analytical methods
  • Develop novel data-driven approaches to support current and future research projects
  • Foster the adoption of data science research tools and outputs within Accenture industry teams (econometric modeling, text analytics, sentiment analysis, data-wrangling, machine learning, web-scraping etc.)
  • Curate Health data assets in conjunction with our consulting teams, data scientists, and researchers to build value-added models and tools
  • Participate with Health practice leads to identify original analysis and insights through the curation of Health data for publication in reports, blogs, articles, and POVs.

Your skills

We are looking for someone who has the following core skill sets:

“Hard” skills:

  • Track record in economic research projects using econometric modeling and data science.
  • Excellent understanding of modeling tools (e.g.Python , R) and techniques (cross-section and time-series econometrics, clustering models, experimental design, machine learning, etc.)
  • Skilled in SQL queries, experience validating data flows and prepare ETL processes according to business requirements.
  • Knowledge of Cloud environments is a plus: Google Cloud Platform (preferred) or other cloud platform
  • Strong storytelling skills to communicate new development of data resources to our Health consultants while ensuring adherence and compliance to usage terms and rights.
  • Understand the opportunity to structure and combine disparate Health data to provide original insights, solutions, and recommendations.
  • Excellent English.
  • Familiarity with NLP models is a plus

“Soft” skills:

  • Enthusiasm for healthcare research and analytics. Willingness to learn from a wide variety of Health data sets and data elements including those found in medical claims, electronic health records (EHR), Medicare Cost Reports, CMS-Limited Data Sets, health plan statement filings, benchmarking (operational, staffing, financial, utilization), quality measurements, and customer satisfaction.
  • Enthusiasm to work effectively - independently, collaboratively, and virtually - in a global, multi-cultural, multi-time zone team
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately and effectively

Additional Information

Reports to: Sr. Manager in Data Science research

Education: Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant economic research and data science experience (incl. coding in R or Python)
  • Global / large private corporation or institution, research think tank or recognized research government agency

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina

What to expect

Accenture is a company of around half a million employees in 53 countries and your first weeks will be spent getting to know the organization. As you become more familiar with the organization you can expect to start work on one or more projects. There is no typical day or project at Accenture Research, but you might start by working on an analysis of one of our clients or potential clients or get involved in developing practical industry growth models, for example of the food industry in Asia, working with a specialist in this area.

Over time you will find a varied project load develops and that you will be working on between two and four projects at any given time, of different durations and scope. You’ll build a good working relationship with the other researchers worldwide. The team operates mainly on a virtual basis.
